flaming pipe

What I have is a 2001 model. After ridding it pretty hard this weekend noticed when turned it off it would back fire out the silencer? Not loud more like flaming sound. New to the blasters don't know if thats the way thay are or needs work? Engine is noisey at idle. Compreshion is good 123 psi. Runs strong no hesitation.

i would take out your plug and look at it to see if you are running lean. also, i would start looking for some air leaks around the cylinder, intake, and exhaust.

well took the plug out this after noon did appear to be running slightly lean. Never seemed to over heat or lose power. no air leaks I could find. This was my first trip on it
adjusted on the carb. road it tonight It seemed to give it more torque pulls the front wheels nicely now! I:I

Great! I am glad that it was a simple fix. I have found that most problems that I have had with engines come down to either air leaks or jetting issues (sometimes both).

I probably need to re-jet the carb. Its stock jetting with fmf pipe and reeds. Just slightly over a turn out on the pilot jet? runs the best.
