So after the ranger's clutch took a dive on us, and figured its not worth spending more $$ on.
I started looking for a new vehicle.
Unfortunately fortunately selling my blaster helped me choose a vehicle by a long shot.
I no longer needed a truck to haul the blaster, even though i could have used our dodge a little.
So we had planned on driving 300 miles to stay overnight and get the car monday morning. But i was informed saturday night he sold it for more than what we offered.
Made new plans sunday to check out a car 300 miles away (where we would have stayed the night)
2000 VW Jetta GLS VR6 5 spd
GLS is best model too, it has power everything (only one plain key) dual power and heated seats sun roof mirrors windows etc.
We agreed on a price before leaving (300 miles is a lot to waste gas lol)
When we got there, its was less than we had expected. And more $$ than we had agreed on
The ad was not very close in telling what was wrong with the car.
there are quite a few dings with surface rust showing. the front bumper has a crack on the top. The wings of the hood were folded from the guy before them forgetting to latch it. Power mirror control snapped off, and the trunk wouldnt open (he claimed it was never a problem, and i believe him as i read it was common and saw the piece not connected)
Really nice guy and his son, they had mexican (?) background and his father spoke broken english and could not read where he had to sign the title.
I will upload pictures tomorrow as we got home around 11:30pm.
The car is white with white plasti-dipped rims that i plan to turn black. the three rear windows are tinted with 5% is my guess, and i plan to tint the front ones too. White car with all black features.
oddly after we had agreed to buy, they took off the license plates. we didnt know why, and when i came back from using the restroom they were gone.
things done:
new clutch supposedly 1500 miles ago (car has 8k more miles than the ad said currently)
timing chain replaced when?? maybe same time as clutch as the tranny was down. hope it was then
HID headlights (im not positive, awk said he had matching ones so he can inform me)
new rubber apparently (again, 8k more miles than ad said, so maybe 8k on them? good tread tho)
straight piped. i like the sound, but i dont want to scare the civics too much, so might get a muffler
things to do:
thorough cleaning (pretty clean, but i like my vehicles CLEAN)
pull off plasti dip, paint rims black (they are black under, but may need sanding)
tint front windows
might paint lower front bumper black along with rear and the lower rocker panels. (not sure yet)
Order cylinder to hold hood up, its gone when hood was torn back (hood is okay)
order switch for power mirrors
put cup holder back on (if possible, i found it under my seat)
Swap radios?
new windshield. chip on pass side. crack up by mirror. depends where it spreads to
So i ordered a radio and speakers for my ranger, and now i got this car with a radio similar to mine. new speakers wont fit, will sell to my brother because he has 2 of his 4 as the same ones i bought. possibly sell/give him a different radio as his has been acting up, and he wants USB on it
So that wraps up my book for tonight. picture book comes tomorrow
