I read that you needed to buy larger gaskets for over boring. i bored .40 over on my 4-stroke because the cylinder had some pretty bad scratches.... is this true? or bull shiiittt?

Boring involves removing material out of the inside of the cylinder sleeve to cut out any damaged caused by previous indescrecions. It does not affect the outside of the sleeve.
The boring they're talking about is on a blaster when you go from a 66mm bore sleeve to a 72mm BBK sleeve. The stock head gasket is too small in inside diameter and will hit the very top edge of the piston.

Yep, a "stock" gasket is already sized to fit up to the max overbore (68mm) of a non-BB blaster. Your four-stroke will be similar for all stock overbores.
