It seems like this project has been given a status of EPIC FAIL! since i locked this thread up in march and focused on my zilla, BUT all is not lost! I have been incredibly busy with college, work, and an upcoming car project that I have not worked on the blaster, but it does not mean I haven't been planning and gathering parts.

I have since sold my (3) complete YZ490 engines, IT465 bottom end, YZ465 transmission, and WR500 jug/head, with the intention of going in a fresh direction with this. Of course it will still be 500ccs and a 2-stroke, i keep those strict requirements for all quads I own now!

Powerplant:
LT500R engine, Piranha ported, back-cut trans, balanced crank, etc...
SCD Racing custom pipe(i've talked with him at length about this and when I get everything together I will deliver the quad to him so the pipe can be properly built)

Chassis/Suspension:
Blaster frame with some special mods!(different front-end geometry, longggg shocks, etc)
Custom LT250R(91/92) no-link Swingarm
LT250R rear hubs
Durablue 2+2 LT250R axle
YFZ450 front spindles
YFZ450 front calipers
Custom A-Arms(overall width will be +4~6)
ELKA Stage 4 Shocks front and rear

parts I have on hand:
YFZ450 front clip(spindles, calipers, [tie-rods and a-arms using only for mockup/measurements])
12 Wheels(yes...12 lol)
1987 Big-Reed LT500R topend(needs a new sleeve)
my semi hacked up blaster frame
brand new yamaha oem plastics

Areas of concern from the setup of my previous engine:
Holes in frame(BIG cracking point!)
Minimal clearance to fuel tank
Pipe would not permit the front fender support mounting

I have metal slugs to weld into the frame holes i made for reinforcement then bolt-in the engine in the same manner as actual zillas. Also the front frame will be completely re-worked after the engine placement is determined(to give room for the pipe).

Also, I plan to (Dumbo) the radiator using 2 dirtbike "half" radiators

Unfortunately, I have no real time-table on when i can expect this to be ready or even when I can get into the major workings of it again before summer(university is a biotch lol).

This pic shows a LT250R engine and rear end mounted on the blaster, ignore that shock mounting as thats a 85-90 link swinger and won't be used, but my frame is already setup to run a LT engine and swinger in the mounts, and also pictured is the durablue axle and hubs

You need to add a small amount of material to the insides of the blaster swinger mounts(or you could add shims, can't remember the exact measurement right now, it's written down somewhere), and the swinger pivot bolt holes need to be reduced in size, as the LT swinger pivot bolt is of a smaller diameter. It was either this or drill out the cases, swingarm, and then try to run custom bearings. Screw that..

holy change of direction batman!

this is going to be a really unique quad when it's done....and a handful to ride

loving it Carnz, I'm curious as well though what it took to get that swingarm to work and whether it would be possible to make it work with the blaster motor. also why the no linkage swing?
