86 lt230 trade

I have a 2000 Blaster that I was going restore for my son. The bike wasn't trashed but it was spray bombed and wasn't in the best shape either n not running. A buddy wants to trade a 86 lt230 for it that runs. Can someone shed some light on this? It looks like its in good condition cosmetically. He says it needs carb work n front brake pads. Thanks in advance.

IMO I would stick with the Blaster. Parts are readily available. Not to sure how easy it would be to get parts for the LT.

The LT is slow and I hate the kick start on them. I know this from owning one before.
