2003 chassis with older wiring?

I bought a 2003 from a shop (Tenth digit in vin is "3"). It has all hydraulic brakes and is in good shape. The engine code is a 89, i figured no big deal its prob been replaced. When i went to remove the tors system(acomplished), it has the older style wiring. Just curious if anybody has seen this before. Sometimes in the car world the newer models use previous year parts for the first 6 months or so. Great site by the way-learning alot from y'all.

A bunch of us have swapped to newer frames with the older engines.
88-02 have a 4 wire stator and separate CDI and TORS boxes
03-06 used a 5 wire stator and CDI/TORS combined in one unit
other than the 4/5 wire stators, the engines are identical

Makes sense.That is probably what happened. There are no lights and minimal wiring.This site has been alot of help.
