If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...

I was thinking of PC'ing the frame a coppery orange but now I'm thinking a bright lime green. Idk, maybe it's that old seat that I still have to recover. I'm thinking shiny black on the sides of the seat and the sweet black ostrich skin material that I got a while back from holeshotman (thanks again). Any and all suggestions are welcome I:I

personally i think the green frame is shot to hell with people doing monster themed blastys, the orange would be awesome with the grey plastics i think lol. you gonna cover the yellow shocks up haha? :D

damn man i like that alot, those plastics look amazing I:I. coming along nicely, whats up with the motor (sorry i didnt read the whole thread lol)? how do you like your fast trekkers flipped backwards like that? i tried it for a while and didnt really like it much but they did seem to bite a bit better.

Thanks for the props! don't know about the Fast Trekkers, I haven't ridden the thing yet. They were left over from my Banshee and I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it narrow for the trails. I actually have one flipped in and one flipped out at the hub. The correctly mounted one sticks out 2" more :

i ride some narrow ass trails around here and havent had a single problem with my +4 rear axle so if it were me i would make it wider so its less tippy.

Here's that pic from the rear. Motor's got nothing special yet. Might do some work to it over the winter. Want to see what it can do stock b4 messing with it.

Yeah, with the Banshee axle and these wheels, I can flip the wheels in and keep the original width or turn them out and pick up a few inches. I'm not sure what brand these wheels are but they're the old ones off my Banshee and have an offset so I can play with the width.

Yeah, I'm tending to agree with you on the over-done green and my first choice was the copper-orange but ... As for the Banshee shocks, the yellow might "pop" :D with the copper PC. If not I'll put outerwears over them.

Still looking for a YFZ 450 rear shock for the right price.

hey george this is kyle first off man that thing is coming along and i can tell you do some awesome work! i saw this a few days ago and called the guy up because i wanted a set of tie rods from him, however he has a yfz450 shock with 2 hrs on it

2004 yamaha yfz 450 parts

figured i would give you the heads up!

Hey thanks for the tip Kyle (LOL on the user name) Traveling right now and can't connect to my email server, I'll see if he's still got the shock when I get home tomorrow.

Don't bother using a Banshee Carrier

Ok, so if you've seen some earlier posts on this build, you know I was trying to use an entire Banshee rear on this build. However, the banshee carrier is A LOT narrower and has some fit issues with the chain adjustment bolts that'll make it unreliable and likely impossible to service later on. So thanks to 1BAD442, I got this '03 carrier and got around to mounting it up today but the axle nuts wont screw on all the way. The inside nut hits the spines before compressing against the sprocket hub. I checked my Banshee Clymer's manual and everything that's supposed to be there is there! :-/

Any suggestions? I could sure use some here.

that is just how they are. don't worry it isn't going anywhere. but mine has never had the axle off and it has a little play in the sprocket hub. just tighten the locknut up to it and you are good

On a much Happier note I:I ... I got the '03 hood mounted reliably with the light. I had to attach the light to the hood itself with some assist from the bracket that's meant for the old hood. I'll get some how-to pics up when I dis-assemble it in a few days.

But here's some pics for you photo whores... (the light's not on, it's just the sun at my back) and yeah, that's one wide-a$$ rear (47"). It's two inches wider than my Banshee b/c of the old 'shee hubs I used; they have an offset and I'll probably flip them in to take it in four inches or so.

Thanks Darederek, but if the hub isn't tightened the splines on the sprocket and the axle will get F'ed up. I guess the Blaster engine isn't as powerful as my Banshee and might take longer to wreck the splines but it shouldn't be this way. I won't even drive it until I either fix what's wrong or put a spacer in there to fill the gap. The purpose of that sleeve inside the carrier (between the bearings) is so the hubs get squeezed up tight against the inner race of the bearing and don't wiggle. There shouldn't be any side-to-side play on the sprocket or break hub

not to say the opposite of what you just did but i doubt that little space will do anything. mine is just enough to have a wiggle and its on the same axle bearings from 1999 and they are just starting to go bad. no offence but i think ur bein a lil paranoid lol. if you do know for a fact that this is bad let me know and i will try to fix it when i change my bearings but i think if it was loose for 11 years and it was gonna screw the splines it would have done it by now

Hi darederek,

The space isn't that little. It's nearly 1mm and your Blaster is showing normal wear. Putting this together like this would not be OK. I really appreciate you trying to help but this isn't how I leave things.

that means you need carrier bearings
