I have a guy wanting to trade me my kx250 that is in boxes and is stripped to the frame for a xr500 that needs a kick starter gear and possably has a wiseco piston my question is is there any problems with theb becides its a honda

It's heavy, it's a 4poke. A simple engine like thet should have ran forever (with maintenance). If it has reached forever and needs a rebuild, youd be looking a good chunk of change.

well he is one of my buddies and I drove about 2 miles down the road and looked at it and it wasent in that bad of shape but he sold it today

the xr parts are readily available and not to pricey to fix. the old xr bikes were very reliable motors 4 stroke or not. i have an 87 xr 600 and top end rebuilds are comparable to any two stoke build.
