my work in progress - 1987 Quadzilla, running log

EDIT: going to just make this thread my running log about my Zilla

*Suzuki Content*

I've been collecting and preparing some more parts for my Zilla for a while now, decided to start working on the quad again today.

Pulled the engine out a few weeks ago to clean it up and install HD clutch, new reeds, new topend, etc...

Heres how it started out

and after some paint, new parts and a little clean up it looked like this

Went over to my cousins house and pulled the roller out and went to work

30 minutes in, the engines back in, bars off, old switches, etc off

Installed my new DR.Q Pipe, Tusk YZ High Bend Bars, D.I.D 520 X-Ring Chain, case saver, new sprockets, etc..

I'm going to finish putting it back together on Saturday morning, I need to cut my front fenders too now as the fender bracket does not fit with my new pipe.

Here's my Zilla's new food of choice

I like pictures!!!! That thing looks mean, cant wait to see a video of it in action! And yes, no questions asked, you will be posting a video of it when its complete :D

Sweet zilla. My dad has that "Cool Head" on his..it works great. You should try feeding it some Q16 :) its just C16 that is oxidized and makes it burn much more fiercely than C16. Kind of like comparing avgas to 93 octane pump fuel.

got it fired up today, engine sounded very healthy!

the compression is ungodly now though, kicked back on me and my right foot is now purple. discovered that I can no-longer start it without an MX boot, which is good, means I have a lot of compression again.

i don't want to hear anyone complain about their blaster being hard to start. lol

also have a coolant leak from the waterpump, i'm going to replace the mechanical seal and oil seal for the pump shaft.

always something with these beasts...

PS. i was going to get a video of it running but it was pouring, i just started it because i waited so long i was getting impatient

Ordered my parts to fix my leaky waterpump! I had Bandit bucks to blow so I just ordered everything from them instead of waiting for my dealership hook up. Good thing is that BB had everything in stock so I should have them by the end of the week.

Goal is to have the parts by this coming Saturday, fix the waterpump, break in the engine, and check the compression.

Any updates will come as I get them.

Edited my original post to make this just become my running log of my Zilla

EDIT:
since i'm just using a UNI Clamp-on with Outerwears now, I am converting my stock airbox to a "storage area" since Zillas do not come stock with any area to put things.

should be a cool little project and will actually allow me to keep my proof of ownership with me because local DNR police can be jerks, also allows for carrying of a few basic tools incase of a problem on the trails

todays update:

Updating/upgrading the lighting system on the Zilla.

Going to remove the stock single H4 headlight and going with dual 3 inch lights with H3 55w HIDs.

Pulling the stock lighting coils off the stator plate and upgrading to Ricky Stator 130watt Lighting Coils.

Purchased a TrailTech Regulator/Rectifier, and I already have a 12V Gel-Cell Battery ready to go in.

Should be pretty awesome and very easy to see at night with the new setup!

very nice!! sounds amazing!!! you definately become a man the first time you kick start a high comp zilla lol, you HAVE to commit to it ahhahahaah I:I
