so i have a bone stock blaster and I am getting a full fmf exhaust kit and taking the air lid off. I heard you should go up about 2 sizes per engine mod so it would be about a 270 main jet, because I have the stock 230 size. I wanted to know what you guys thought about this.

I ran basically the same set up with a 270 main, 32.5 pilot (stock) and the needle clip in the middle. My elevation is 340ft above sea level. Get a few jets, 270-280-290 and start with the 280. Do a Plug chop and see if you need to go up or down (rich or lean) with your jetting.

You'll be in the 270-280 range. With the airbox lid removed, you need to go up more than three sizes from stock (FMF recommends a 260 with just the pipe and airbox lid still on). I'd install a 280 and do a plug chop to see where you are at.

hi guys, just did a plug chop on my 04 blaster, with dmc pipe and drilled airbox lid, heres the pics...how does it look?

I would prefer at least one size bigger.

agreed,
thats damn near a perfect plug chop,
for instance....if the sun goes down and temps drop a few degrees, you may be lean ?
bump her up one more to be safe !I:I

do i hav to change the jets on my blaster to run fmf its fully stock 2000 model

Remove air cleaner lid : Not stock any more
Different air filter : not stock

Any time you change how the air flows IN or out guess what ???

It's not stock any more !!! which is really a good thing I:I
And the more you modify the more you have to stay on top of the jetting and maintenance, not that it's hard. I:I

As larry said, YES, you need to change jets.

1. B8es plug, bright blue spark at the correct time.
2. Clean fuel system, no leaks.
3. Exhaust system no leaks.
4. Intake system no leaks.
5. Correct float level, 20 to 21.5mm.
6. Correct idle
7. Needle on middle clip.
8. Mininium Jetting......... FMF Likes a #260
Better air filter + #270
Airbox lid off + #290
32:1 + #300
Cold weather + #310
Colder weather + #320
9. Start big and plug chop back.
