So I bought my 1st ever Blaster today and I'm pretty psyched about it. The guy I bought it from was the second owner so didn't know alot that was done to it. The only part that's not stock that I can see is the fmf pipe on it. Anyway I noticed on 2 different occasions when I was kickstarting it is that it backfired. It then started after a couple of kicks. Is this normal to this quad? I had a zkx65 bike that never did that when I kickstarted it. Of course that was only 65cc so don't know if that matters. Thanks for any insight.

Backfires are usually bad reeds, an airleak, or flywheel woodruff key has sheared and allowed flywheel to rotate out of time.

I second the reeds. Occasionally the screws like to loosen up on the older Yamaha two-strokes.
I had that happen to me on my 1992 YZ250 and let me stranded in Lost Trails.

Take off your carb and intake boot to check them. Check to see if the "petals" of the reeds are rigid, cracked, or etc. If they feel good, tighten the screws down; they're a PH-1 bit (tiny philips).
I'm personally partial to V-Force3 Reeds, but that's just me.
