Oil drain nut leaking

Ok so I got a brand new magnetic oil nut and put it in filled my tranny with oil and within house it leaked out. How can I stop the oil nut from leaking? Does it need a gasket? X(

yeah i use a gasket on mine, yamaha book calls for one.

a brass washer will work fine. they have them in autoparts stores

Yes, oil drain bolts require a crush washer. I'm sure your local auto store can help you out. I'd steer away form a dealer unless you want to pay 5x the price.

yeah just go to your local hardware store. go to the hardware aisle and find the brass washers, get a few and have em on hand,

Any decent auto parts store, NAPA, etc, should have a selection of COPPER washers for drain plugs.

Do I sense a bit of sarcasm? lol. I only popped in here because my plug head is stripped. had to get it out with the vice grips. so I'm in the same market....will be looking around here to find one.

I have a nylon or some sort of plastic onne on mine.I got it at oreily autoparts in town.couple of bucks and it works great.be sure to take ur drain plug in with you.

also try a fabric washer, i use them and see no leaks, granted it has been compressed preventing any leak
