What could cause a clutch not to engage and make the clutch lever feel soft instead of firm like it supposed to
Please explain what you mean.
Do you mean can you change gears without using the clutch, if so, you can change without a clutch.
Do you wan an automatic or something?
sounds fast
fix the clutch....how are you going to start/stop have any fun with it.

Clutch "engaging" allows it to start moving.
Clutch "disengaging" allows you to stop.
So which is it doing?

Why does my clutch only work when it wants to work like i was riding and i pressed the clutch and it worked just fine and the next time i used the clutch it didnt and the clutch handle doesnt feel firm like its supposed to

Or you need to adjust it or replace depending on whats actually happening.
"work when it wants to" is not enough description for us to help you
could be:
clutch is bad/worn
basket is grooved
adjustment
dot not lined up
plates not in order
oil low/water/wrong oil

It sounds like the clutch actuator arm is worn. Once the arm wears, it mushrooms the clutch rod. It sounds like the mushroomed rod is intermittently getting stuck behind the actuator.
