My 01 had major fade and a flat look. What I did is gave the hole thing a bath with wash and wax from armour all, dried it off and I bought $4.00 Turtle Wax car wax. Right away they look brand new without sanding. The only thing it didn't take out was the deep white fade in the nasty Yamaha blue from where it had been rolled by the previous owner. It works very good and its cheap!

using a torch going over it very quick takes the fade away, and pics are always a must in DIY I:I

A torch or a heat gun will help with the white stress marks. But I have not been able to get them to completely disappear.
