Can you put a piston in backwards?

As the title asks, can you put a piston in a blasty backwards? I'm sure there has to be something different from the front to the back of the piston.
 
Yes I think it will go in backwards but will not run because the intake ports on the piston go to the back by the reed cage. :eek:
 
i put one in backwards once, went through the whole break in process with it like that. then when i went to do the next step after heat cycles and went through the whole carb, cleaned teh filter checked reeds. then took the jug back off and saw the arrow. pointing backwards not forwards. yes it will run, but not drive well
 
you can put one in backwords but DONT DO IT there is and arrow on the top of most pistons it points FORWARD, trust me i learned the hard way, not fun, to much beer and not enough sleep makes you do crazy things
