2004 raptor with yz 250 engine

If that chassis is indeed from an '04 Raptor (looks like it!), its a 660. The Raptor 700 's didn't come out until 2006.

I know very little about Tri-Z's, but after doing a little searching, here's one on ebay with lots of engine pics for comparison.

1985 Yamaha TRI Z 250 never fired top end fresh bore 40 over Motor only | eBay

After looking at the pics, I think everybody's right...its a Tri-Z engine with a Blaster kicker. Plus, look at this:

Look how the pipe bends on this stock Tri-Z, then compare it to the engine in the Raptor chassis. Looks the same to me, except for the obvious fact that the pipe in the Raptor is a DG, not a stock Yamaha part.

I'd rather have the Tri-Z engine in a quad frame, anyways. I'm sure its almost as powerful and probably much smoother than a YZ setup...

Might be difficult kicking forward on a forward folding kicker ... LOL

Don't know bout that ...

If it was counterballenced with a Blaster gear set I'd buy every one I could find ... LOL

Here's a gear comparison, not sure if the tri-z is correct. I still think the WR is the best of the 3 for a quad

---- Blaster --------- 89 WR250 -------- 90 YZ250 -------- Tri-Z

the 86-87 yz250 exited out the left side, and neither had a power valve..and they look awfully similar to this engine and front frame portion of what can be seen.

That frame work is interesting never seen anyone do a swap like that before. Also im not sure when yamaha started putting power valves on the YZ250 but i would think that since they introduced it in 1977 on race bikes with consistent results that mid to late
80's production bikes would have them.
