  • first you have to sand off the paint. it takes a lot of time so if you are easily discouraged don't start it. you progressively work your way down from 220 grit to 800-1000 grit. I used a sandpaper flapper wheel on my dremmel to knock the paint off then after the metal is cleared of paint you can polish it by hand with mothers polishing compound. I used a 6" bench grinder with polishing wheels. I use brown compound on one wheel and white on the other. If you find my build thread i acctually did the whole motor

    i know what you mean man. they are rough, but i will eventually get there. i am just worried about function over form at this point
    got the guy to fix my jug by the way.... now all i need is a new stud and i will be able to put it back together
