2005's engine. Stock internals, with a Toomey B-1 pipe kit, 28mm Keihin PWK carb, VF3 reeds, K&N pod air filter, TORS surgery, oil injection block-off, and Extreme Billet side cover (not shown here). Looks like I forgot the air filter Outerwear in this pic. CFM airbox coming soon...
Thanks! Id say the 28pwk carb was good for a few extra HP. Maybe 3-5. Problem I had with mine was the pod air filter. It was impossible to tune properly with the 'open' air filter. I ended up getting a bigger carb before getting my CFM airbox, so that PWK was sold off. Looking back, I should have kept it. Throttle response is much crisper than with the stock carb. They are a nice upgrade.
What brand of 30mm carb? I don't like OKO carbs. Id rather have a used genuine Keihin PWK 28 for $ 75.00 or so as opposed to a new OKO. Far better quality.
Is it a flat slide? Thats not a bad carb...I had one on a Blaster and it worked OK, but they are difficult to tune exactly right, and most of them are round-slide. Not bad, but not a great upgrade either.
I think they made a huge difference in throttle response, but I didn't really see a big improvement in overall horsepower. I'd recommend them, but no need to get in a hurry to buy a set.
Cool! Oh yes, they're definately a good upgrade. Just be sure to do a leakdown test on the engine after installing them. Its hard to get some VF3's to seal properly against the stock intake manifold.
