Clutch arm walking up and eventually disengaged from rod

Been having weird clutch issues, followed directions for adjusting it and it's been mostly okay, didn't seem to disengage the clutch quite as hard as I would like but enough that it wouldn't die in gear.

Well now within about 20 actuations of the lever it walks up and pretty much out of the socket, it gets to the point it'll run into the carb and intake and it'll feel really free. If I smack it back down into the hole deeper it engages again.

Is there something meant to hold it down? It's it just worn too far? I've tried bending the clutch cable bracket down as far as possible thinking it's angled up but that does not appear the case. It appears to walk up a little every time I pull and release the clutch lever.

I can build something to kind of capture it and hold it down but I'm trying not to hillbilly this too bad

The spring hooking down over the lip of the case is all that holds it down in, unfortunately this is a common spot to break off when the chain jumps off.
is the lip still on your case and is the spring hooked down over it ?

the only other reason for it to work up out is if it is grooved badly where the rod contacts it
a new, or good shape used actuator should cure that

The spring is still hooked over the case correctly so I guess I'm int he market for a new actuator, this may explain some of my other issues.

For now I have a zip tie over it holding it down, took it on a test ride and it's actually holding lol.

I see some wear marks but not a groove as I have seen in a badly worn actuator ......

Arm is probably worn out, or clutch push rod. Basically the clutch rod holds it There's no holder like a Banshee has.
While you may fabricate something to work for now, it might bite you down the road

IIRC you have to pull rod out to pull arm out

There's some extra fun going on here, went on a ride and the seal popped out I guess because it was puking a little foamy atf at the clutch actuator. That seemed to have fixed the issue with it wanting to ride up though so maybe it was a pressure thing. I did find I'm missing the ball bearing in between the two clutch rods, it appears instead they just cut a peice of rod and jammed it between them I'm assuming it was originally part of one of the rods making my linkage 3/16ths too short plus whatever material they lost to make the cut.

So i ordered a new clutch rod kit, has both rods, a ball bearing, and the lock nut. I'm going to give that a go.

Oh also I poked a fishing hook down in my breather and it does not seem stopped up but it's missing the hose so I could imagine dried mud being in there very easily, so I need to get on that I guess.

This buying used can be a lot of work lol, still happy to have a clutch and gear driven 2 stroke though.
