Wi.
I'm Tankbuster. I hail for the great state of Wisconsin. I just picked up a Blaster from a gentleman who was rolling it to the curb! It need a a carb and jug with the top and a reed box??? I'm not familiar with this type of ATV How does one identify the year, seems to be some conflicting reports on the Net. This Blaster is a winter project. I do own a LT 80 and a LT125, both were projects the previous owners didn't have time to deal with... both run fine. Any information is seriously appreciated. Thank you!

tenth digit on frame is the year of frame.
it is possible to have a 03-06 engine on a older frame.
the 03-06 models came stock with hydraulic brakes and 5 wire stator.
hydraulic brakes wont fit on an older frame without modifications.
only example i can find at moment.....
if you got drums brakes right know then it is 88-02 frame at least. With four wire stator tors brain different ect. deffinetly. 88-02
look at the tors delete threads if you got this or that lol..

Yes it is Awk08. It refers to the A10 Thunderbolt II. (A.K.A. warthog, tankbuster) Do you know where I can purchase , basically the top end for cheap. all I want is to hear this thing run.. Im using it for yard work and such. I need the jug and head cap carb and this so called reed box?? any such place other than EBAY. I got this thing for nothing, and im having heck of a time getting numbers off the engine or frame. I think its from 88-06 just from the 4 wires from stator. Any sites that have some close up pics of engine. I think the oil injector is gone because it did not have a oil tank. Any help is deeply appreciated! The only other Yamaha I own is Virago, I scored for cheap.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPP, Luv the A-10 :)

this 4 or 5 wire stator is the only difference of all blaster engines, 88-02 = 4 wire, 03-06 = 5 wire.
everything else is exactly the same for all years engines.
ebay is your best bet.

This may be a really stupid question... What is the purpose of the so called reed box???? I've had some two strokes before, but I don't recall any having anything like that.

ok... got it! so, if im doing a top end and using used parts bought online, then these should be replaced so compression can be maintained for the burn.... Right???? Never dug this deep into an engine before.. only saw it in books.
so, another question... why are those "kits" sold for a hundred bucks online junk? I only need the jug not the piston... any thoughts? is there a place to post these questions... never was much for forums.
That panda bear is vicious brute isn't he. kinda reminds me of myself at my job! lol

only replace the reeds if they need it....cracked/chipped/broken petals, and then just petals need replaced, not the whole cage

it's those chi-wanese jugs that are junk...airpockets, sleeve falking off, ports not chamfered, casting flaws, ect.

yup it is the cylinder that is junk get your's bored or a used original that need boring ect.
company's are just trying to earn a profit they don't care about quality.
Yamaha is not going to go under for a few bucks in equipment to produce high quality material.

And yes he is a angry PANDA lmao:D
i believe it was a commercial probably produced in china, The poorest part of china that is.Seeing how china does give alot to america, just got to be carefull on there quality control.China does produce some of the parts that america does BUT WE go over there and tell them do it this way or go f yurself on producing our american named parts lol:eek: CAR parts are 1 example in my opinion anyhoot:oops:

OK. Thank you AWK08. besides I need the jug, carb and reed cage just to see if this thing will run. This project is gonna take while.... so many details and so many used jugs I cant decide which to buy! I guess I will try for a jug and piston combo.

I worked in a tankbuster unit as well but did it from a lower angle, with the M72, Carl Gustav and 106 recoilless. This is me with my war-face on:

Yeah, I'm fearsome. Jaunty angle on the helmet keeps it from hitting the scope.

hope you have as much fun with these quads as I've had,

Steve

if you don't have a local, reputable, 2 stroke mx/atv shop ?
I would have the cylinder and head shipped directly to Ken Oconnor Racing in CT.
(call ken to make arrangements, provide ebay sellers with your name but kens address, I've successfully done this )
let him do his thing to provide and match a piston to the cylinder, bore/hone if needed, and get the head modified also < best bag for the buck !
ken can provide you the gaskets needed for reassembly

Hey thanks for all the sites AWK08! money tight, but the head and jug are on my list first.. I do have the original piston so it mikes out at 66.675 mm. I will send all three to Ken Oconnor Racing in Conneticut. Will definitely call before sending.
Again thanks.

chances of a used piston working in a different used Jug are slim. IMO
chances ken risks his reputation on a used piston ..... ?????

I'd plan spending the extra $ on a new Namura, Vertex or Pro-X cast piston for $60 - 80, maybe cheaper if ken gets it for you.

I have an off topic question..... Does any one know where I can get a wiring diagram for a CHINESE 50CC MINI CHOPPER?????? I think its from 1995 or 2005. I have been up and down the entire net and have not found any thing that comes close! Cant even find the manufacturer at all. Any help would be appreciated!
