I like the little waterproof box. I keep some stuff under the seat of the Blaster. Fair amount of toolroom there but it gets dirty.
The vibration, dust and water takes its toll of your stuff. I find if I buy my plugs in sealed blister packs they hold up better than the cardboard boxes.
This is a pict of my Raptor from a couple years ago, with a bedroll (sleeping bag and bivvy sheet) on the grab bar:
I normally also use a backpack when camping, which really hinders my mobility on the bike or quad.
I think I might get a larger "cooler pack grab bar" for my Blaster to carry gear.
By law here in Nova Scotia you have to have a knife or blade, a fire starter and a compass to go in the woods.
Not a bad idea anywhere. Anyone watch "127 Hours"?
Thinking of which, ever hear of Lo-jack systems? Uses a pulsing transmitter to locate your stolen vehicle.
You can buy transmitters and receivers quite cheap these days:
Marshall Radio Telemetry - Scout Transmitter
RC PLANE, Communications Specialists Inc., RC Plane, Model Airplane Tracking, Model Rocketry Tracking, ELT
Size of a wristwatch, $125 purchase, 40 day battery life, batteries cost $1 each when bought in bulk.
Law enforcement and Search & Rescue teams in certain places around the country are equipped to search for these transmitters in the 216-219 range.
$12 a year to help assure you or your bike can be found if it goes missing.
I realize there are SPOT and sat phones and such, but this simple system can locate a person or gear within and hour after noticing them missing.
