I think it depends on what you're trying to do. I think red is a permanent seal and is extremely hard to remove. Blue seals it up good but is still able to be removed in the future if for some reason you have to remove something. I'm not sure on green though as I was not aware in came in that color.

nevermind, we got red, gonna put it on the axle locknuts so they stay on, just gotta heat it up if for some reason we want them off.

Why would you use red loctite. If you torquet them good they will stay. Or wrap the nuts together. Racers do that too for extra measure. That is why they call red, permanet loctite. Green is like a wicking loctite, to fill bigger voids like pressing in bearings and stuff.

that's usually how i do it too, things that you have off a lot but rattle loose, i'll use blue, but if i'm gonna leave it a while, i hit it with the red

Yep, I use blue, if you lose something or it loosens then go red.
