sounds like it's going to be a nice build !
keep us posted along the way with pics I:I

From the the looks of things, you'll be busy. How do you plan on having your swing arm extended? I have seen 4" extended swing arm from a stocker on Ebay for $150.00. Fit-up-up and welded by a experienced frame builder.

as for the swing arm my brother inlaw is a welder by trade so thats a job for him

well i gace up looking for skid plates in the uk so i done this this afternoon to my axle gaurd and under my main frame thinking ill do my front arms monday the same

The front arms will be fine, unless you dont want them losing paint.

Maybe take the dimensions of the stock skid plate and fab up a really nice one?
I have the armadillo one if you want dimensions of that I:I

well a little update soz for no pics i forgot to take my caamara up my workshop ..the frames all gusseted and skid plate welded to the under side now its now being blasted and powder coated ill get pics when i get it back
ive now recived the yzf 450 widened rear hubs too
and the 400ex shock just waiting for loads of parts to arrive for it now
where cani buy a custom seat cover for it and what metal heel gaurds fit as i dont like the standered ones and im using nerf bars im looking for a set where i dont need to mod the frame as its being freshly powder coated

Skid plate welded to the frame??? Put down the welder and fabricate some removable mounts. Gussets should be welded, not skid plates. Nothing worse then getting a frame and seeing someone welded the pegs to the frame or any accessory welded to the frame.

well i just got the frame back from the powder coaters u can see the skid plate i made and the frame gussets should be really strong now

i like that color better than bright yellow :)

The one who welded the gussets, will this be the same person that will weld the extension to your swing arm?

For the past 9 years i have been a welding instructor and Lead welder for a piping fabrication company.
I don't mean any disrespect but.... If I were to grade the welds that i see. It would be a low score on a visual inspection.

I see in many areas the tie ins are incomplete, and some areas the weld is incomplete on the sides.

These areas may not be under extreme pressures while riding, but the swing arm is. Any weld areas that are incomplete such as tie-ins or incomplete penetration or fusion on the sides of the weld can lead to weld failure by cracking due to extreme abuse and vibrations.

no lol that was me who welded the frame the swing arm is being done by a welder by trade

I will take the comments on the weld quality a little further and say rather than strengthen, the frame has been weakened.

cheers guys lol way i look at it is its well penertrated in so it will be fine butif it does go wrong its only the frame so ill get anoughter one fairly easy ....
