New 30mm OKO, geting it to run thread

if the key is sherred what do i replace? perhaps a picture of a bad one woudl help so i'd know what im really looking for.

if it hte slot on the flywheel that woudl be damaged, or the shaft it sits on?

if it sheared u just replace the key nothing will be damaged but the key itself

The taper is what actually holds the flywheel, the key is only there for alignment and is sacrificial if the taper lets loose.

Usually the shaft and flywheel aren't damaged, only a little rubber which can be polished back out with some lapping compound.

Also, there isn't any question if the key is sheared... Normally the key is a small chunk of metal. If it's sheared it'll either be half sheared (looks like the key was cut in half longways) or two completely different little slivers of metal which will fall out when you take the flywheel off.

Here's a diagram the key- is number 18-
