I have to hold the gas to start it and when I do...and slowly let the engine rev Down and let go of the gas...it just shuts off...I bought it recently and haven't had time to figure it out.HELP ME PLEASE! !!!!!

the idle is under the seat on stock carb,your pilot jet might be clogged,and if you did not fix your overflow problem yet ,then my guess is you need to disassemble your carb,clean,adjust or replace parts.
air screw set at 1 1/2 turns out from fully seated...

Ok my cousin is really good with carbs so hopefully he can do it tomorrow otherwise I will take your advice with the videos and manuals thanks
If fuel is coming out of your overflow, first make sure the drain screw is tightened (do NOT over tighten it, you'll strip the threads in the aluminum bowl) and if it's still leaking then you have a problem with your float. In that case, check out the manual, it'll tell you to take the carb off and check the height of the float. Be sure to check that the float actually floats too.
My bet there is a heap of crap or varnish buildup in the needle and seat stopping it from regulating the fuel.
