i have a 99 blaster... completly redid the motor including a 3mm stroker crank new wiesco piston all new barrings seals gaskets everything last fall.. rode the blaster to brake it in and everything ran great.. sat all winter and spring got it back out this summer to have fun with and it had a hard time starting finaly got it going and it wouldnt turn it really low rpm's.. messed with the carb and it started running better but still not great. went to kick it over and it locked up.. tore it apart and the cank nut backed of didnt appear to hurt anythign at all.. so retightened the crank nut and reassemabled the motor..

now here is were im having a problem..
i have kicked and kicked it to start it and nothing.. finally i drug it down the road and it fired up very low rpms and wouldnt "clean out" but i rode it maybe a 1/4 mile back if that to the driveway and the header pipe was so hot i thought it was going to melt the tank.. shut it off and took the tank off the bike.. now it wont refire at all.. sounds like its going to when you pop start it but its so loaded up it wont.. has a brand new plug and gas great compression and spark.. what am i missing?

probably have a crank seal leak on that side now. probably wouldn't start bc tranny oil in the crank chamber. now it's overheating bc of the air sucking in

pipe is clean it back fires ever like 10 kicks or so.. cleaned the carb and also tried another one no luck with that.. fresh fuel and plug

i'd still pull that pipe off, what you're describing is classic "clogged pipe/silence" < been there done that.
remove the "tors" and parking brake if it has one
check the reeds for cracks/chips/breaks
check the flywheel hasn't sheared the woodruff key, allowing it to slip "out of timing"

has it been leakdown tested ? it should have been, and again now you're having trouble

has new reeds also.. i will try everything you have recommended in a while and let you know how i make out.. any thing is worth a shot.. thank you for the advice and any other ideas im more then willing to try..

brand new reeds have been known to break also,

lol what da heck is up with you and burning blaster pipes, keep this guy away from the trinitys and lrds.

i think he was describing how he'd rid a clogged pipe of any obstructions(mouse nest)
personally i prefer a coat hanger/electrical fish tape, just like unclogging the kitchen sink

well i was thinking it might help to un clog it and help to get some of the carbon and years of oil that have been packed in it out and diesle would probably be better than gas

and when we burned my dg if you looked down in it as is was on fire you could see the carbon and oil pealing off of the inside of the pipe
