help id this motor

hey guys my friend is plannin on buying a blaster with a yamaha motor in it, its an old motor air cooled, we havnt seen the motor in person but i saw pics, the numbers on the jug are 501-204726, and here are pics of the bike regal200021's photos and albums on webshots they are sucky pics but its what we got.

I don't know.... that looks kinda like a hack job. The pipe's convergent section has FAR too much angle on it. It looks like they stuck something in there (not what's supposed to be in there) and had no idea how to actually make it work.

If your friend is looking at paying more than about $150 for that (and he doesn't want a HUGE headache project) I'd tell him to walk away. If he's looking for an actual blaster, he needs to look elsewhere.

looks like a very old YZ 250-400cc dirt bike motor.

i'm thinking either: MX250, MX360, or MX400. maybe a YZ but i don't know much about YZ's so i'm leaning towards MX.
