Head Gasket

Last time i was out my head gasket started blowing smoke. Did not run it after i saw it. Do i need to just replace the head gasket or do i need to pull and hone the jug?

Blowing smoke? I would do a leak down test before i do anything.

Should just be able to put a new head gasket on but check the cylinder walls and see how they look

If i already know it leaking air out of the head gasket, how would a leak down test help?

Good answer wireman I:I. Unless there was an even bigger leak it would come out there first. Just be sure to clean head and top of cyl. Be sure to clean things up BEFORE you take it apart, don't want crap falling down in there with head off.

just replace the gasket and make sure that it torques and the head studs don't pull out

Clean out any debris, replace head gasket, tighten nuts to 20 ft lb.

Do 3 to 5 heat cycles to condition gasket and then retighten nuts.
