Gearbox cover has turned white..

Just cleaning my 2004 Blaster up and noticed that the gearbox/clutch cover (unsure what it's called) has turned white..

It's kind of a substance on top that can be scratched with a screwdriver

Anyone know what this is/why it happened?

I'm not having any problems with it at all

They do that. Sand it down, prep Itand spray paint it black again.

I've never figured out why the oil pump covers do that. I'd guess the plastic is reacting with the air, or is affected by UV rays.
 
Haha I'm sure nobody could be that bad at spray painting xD

i see the frame has a brace on it,then was spray painted lol:eek:
thats why i suspected spray paint i dont know maybe im loosing it:D...either way just paint it :)

The clutch cover on my Banshee was white like that when I got it.

I think I got Gloss black engine enamel at Walmart, Then rattle canned it in the driveway. Easy enough to do and looked 1000x's better.
