compression question

On the gf's old blaster i built and traded for my shee i got 137psi on a .050 wiseco and stock gaskets.

Id settle for nothing less than 120psi on a new rebuild.

Agree with above^^^^^^^^. A good rule is to compression test your motor before you fire it up, after break in they usually gain a few PSI when the rings seat properly, and then i check at least once a season. You should re ring when you get 10% less of what you started with.

Example new build is 130 PSI, 10% of that is 13 , 130-13= 117 should put new rings on!

As a rule of thumb (BUT IM PARANOID) i do a compression test any time ive messed with jetting, modded anything on the engine, when i do a tune up.

I probably go overboard with them but a compression test and the the plug are like looking glasses into the engine and how it is running and will tell you alot. And since i have to work for, buy, build and maintain my own toys i dont take any chances.

Compression tests take far less time than a rebuild.
