cable lube tricks

light engine oil 0w-30 works great

pour a few capfulls of oil into a small ballon then zip tie it to the lever end of the cable and allow the oil to run into the cable over night.

engine oil works better then most light spray lubes or wd-40
actually wd-40 is a penatrating fluid not an oil.

i slide a small funnel over the line, tape it off, ty-rap it to the bars upright and pour an inch above the line end with oil, and let set for a while

just put some ky jelly on it and work it back and forth... wait. i mean i used champion chain lube and worked my rear brake cable for a while and it was still tight so i put more chain lube and just rode it around for a while and it finally gave way and now it works.

Thanks for the ideas. I like the balloon trick and I'll give it a try.

What is the ballon trick?

This is good advice really. Buy it once and keep it in your tool box forever.
I've seen them as low as $7.
If your really on a buget fit a section of hose over the cable end and fill it with oil and work the cable inside with some pliers or vice grips to get it goin in there then let it sit for a while.

Actually wd40 is a lubricating spray. Pb blaster is a penetrating spray
