My blaster will start up and idle normally. As I go on the throttle the rpms will go up but will not come back down. Where ever I leave off the throttle at is where it will keep the rpms at. The cable doesn't look to be hanging up anywhere. What else could be causing this?

could be a few things.
air leak on the engine somewhere's
carb slide is not returning back down smoothly
bad fuel flow
airscrew on carb not adjusted properly
do you know what the airscrew is set at?
did it just happen or was it like that all along?

I was riding it and just like that the rpms shot up and I couldn't get it down even with the kill switch. I had to hammer the throttle and flood it. I thought it was gonna blow up. So far I've re adjusted the air screw to 1.5 turns out which is stock.

Well my post got no attention so I'm here, I got a similar problem but I don't have to hit the gas in order for it to go up... please help

what spark plug do you have?
should be a ngk b8es don't touch the gap on a new plug
should be fine out of the box
you probably have a leak somewheres making engine get extremely hot
any mods done to the quad pipe/air filter ect.
you should take carb off and clean it and check everything out
main jet size pilot jet size
check fuel flow from tank to carb.
check float level ect this is something you can do right know get a can of carb cleaner.
you will need to make or buy a leak tester i believe awk08 is still selling them.

dont keep running it like that it is running lean somehow
meaning either not enough fuel or too much air.i will look for some links give me a sec
or it really is the slide not returning smoothly:)

Brand new carb. Less than 15 minutes of riding on it. Just rebuilt the entire top end and it ran great until this happene out of nowhere. I don't think the slide is stuck because I shut it off and it goes back to a normal idle

well then that could change the game up
got any links to these parts you bought or pics of it?
you should always leak test after rebuilding
did you do heat cycles and re torque afterwards
or a proper break in of top end?
did you get a kit that included a cylinder?
what carb is it stock or a chinese knock off?
i know alot of questions lol:)

Got a kit that included the cyclinder and a Chinese knock off carb. I ran the quad once and retorqued. Didn't do anything special for a break in

What jets are in the new carb ?

I've never seen any new carb include the jets a blaster requires.

I'm going to say that the new carb is a problem. Knock offs are worthless, and don't respond well to trying to tune. Buy a genuine used 26mm mikuni and go from there. You will get more smiles per gallon with the right equipment

I would say it haS something to do with carb. Try taking it off and make sure jets are clean. Make sure there’s no gum up everywhere. I had the same problem where it was at half throttle all the time. Cleaned the carb and all is good!!
