ok so i will start i have a 200 blaster i just did a top end rebuild. it has new piston, rings, gaskets, brand new cylinder stock bore, and everything. first after rebuild i got it running and after some work and adjusting i got it starting good and idling.

but the problem is once it is running it cuts out dies as soon as i give it gas. it idles fine but dies when i give it any gas. sometimes it will run at full throttle but anything less it bogs and dies. also it runs really hot and sometimes doesnt want to run once its hot.

i can sometimes get riding it at full throttle but once i dont have it at full throttle or have the clutch in it dies??????? so it is impossible to actually ride

I have no idea what the problem is... im stumped this time.

The quad has a full fmf gold series exhaust. also when i did the top end i found out i have vforce 2 reeds. (they are starting to fray at the ends a little but nothing bad.

it idles perfectly fine but at idle sometimes it will pop and then backfire sometimes dying sometimes it will stay running fine. it gives off a little white smoke but not alot and i think that is from me acidently getting a little gear oil in the crank case.

i tried spraying some carb cleaner into the cab but it dies and then just runs the same once i restart it.

sorry for the long question just trying to give all the info i have at the moment.

any input or knowledge would be awsome i was thinking of getting new reeds and doing a carb rebuild but i have no idea if this will even fix anything before i start dumping any more money into it. im clueless on why it wont run.

do not even start that engine again until following these steps,
in this order........

leakdown test

or.......

clean your carb (NO..spaying carb cleaner in it while running does not clean anything)

check/set floats

adjust airscrew/pilot jet
http://www.blasterforum.com/carburetor-138/adjusting-your-airscrew-pilot-jet-51060/

needle clip on middle clip position

your FMF pipe requires between a 270 and 300 main jet
buy a 300,290,280 and 270 main jet, start with the 300 and plug chop down to perfection......

plug chops

report back with your results

Well, here's to hoping you haven't jacked your new engine up. When things aren't right, trying to ride isn't going to fix a thing.

Do the the things already posted and get back with us.

ok well i am pretty sure the leak is coming from my base gasket so i am just gonna throw in a new top end gasket set next week and then i pulled the carb off after finding the leak the carb didnt look good so i am gonna clean the carb.

but for the reeds that i took out they were starting to fray so i am going back to the stock reed cage with new boysen power reeds i got cheep from a friend.

but my question is now after i clean the carb i know i need to check my main jet size? if i have my fmf gold series exhaust and then i am going back to stock/boysen power reeds what size main jet should i run do i still need upwards of a 300 main jet? or what size should i get.

As stated above by awk you need to do a leak down test and make sure you are leak free.If you are leak free then a good carb cleaning will work wonders.Sounds like a clogged pilot jet to me.

I was having problems with my jetting too, i am tackling it right now... i have the FMF gold header and fmf powercore 2 silencer, i had a 300 in it, that was too rich, i put a 280 in it that was too rich also, i just went to a 240 and i now have plenty of power, i just dont have any jets in between, so i am going to plug chop on the 240, oh also my head is ported. good luck!!!

What is your elevation? Do you have your airbox lid on? Air filter clean? Are you premixing? I would NOT run that motor with a 240.
