yep. Possibly only reason he isn't having problems "YET" is that the plug is short reach. Plugs are cheap, pistons aren't. IF it is hotter and not fouling it's only masking another problem that may cause BIG problems. Has he checked his trans level recently (or ever)?
Honestly i dont know, I do know that i grew up with him and he was one of those people that was blessed with good luck, and is good at everything, if i learn or do something he can learn it faster or do it better...
Man I dont call using the wrong plug "being good at everything" I call it tempting providence.
If he is trying to cover up a leaky crank seal with a plug, his luck is sure about to change.
Encourage him to do a leak down test.
