I previously thought that every time you perform a top end rebuild you should bore the cylinder. I read from someone on the forum that it is not required. Now do you know when you just need to replace the piston & rings compared to having to bore and replace the piston & rings?

If the bore has any big scores or scratches on it that honing would not get out I would deff. bore it. U should hone it anytime u rebuild to help the rings seat

You need to bore when the cylinder and piston have a clearance of .004 or larger or if the cylinder is worn out of round.
