crank bearing? bad or useable

Ya, just pull gear off end of crank. The "rubber band" effect may very well be the balancer/gear. The gear has rubber dampers simular to the clutch, but smaller. Plus, if you look at the balance shaft it is off center so to speak, so at some point of the stroke, gravity would want to take over, so to speak.

While you're in there, inspect the rivets on the gear. Spin balance shaft by hand to check those brgs..
 
so can it have this {rubber band effect}and still be ok or should i not be able to feel it

i will check all of the above possibly tonight depending if i get called in to work or not.. very helpful advice larry
