    Putting a lid on will give it less air, causing it to be RICHER. At what point is it running rich? Low-mid-hi? Does it ever clear up?

    Pull the hose off of the carb and plug it. It might seem like it won't come off, but yank on it and it will. Hardware stores sell those little plugs. Might want to buy a couple just to have a spare.

    I don't see this "performace loss" you're talking about. I have to run it in my bike so the Blaster gets the same stuff, regardless of a couple extra dollars. I'm not going to carry around different mixtures of gas just to save a couple dollars per ride.

    8-10hp on a Blaster would leave it with like, 1/2hp?? I don't see how that could be possible on a Blaster motor. Surely you would be able to feel a 8-10hp loss and I've never felt a gain or a loss when switching octanes, especially one as dramatic as an 8-10hp loss.
