Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Whats a parts blaster worth? Have a extra frame, 1 front hub w/arms, extra motor that I don't think is a blaster motor that the po sent with it, and misc brackets. Needs new crank, jug to include piston, and head. Runs and rides but after I have been in engine have noticed this stuff and...

    How bad is this?

Is about half and half. Pretty much equal slop top and bottom of the rod.

    How bad is this?

Any clue how long will run like this? Was running fine (but very lean) just tore down as had a leaky crank seal. While waiting for new seal and a pressure tester from awk I pulled the head just to take a look.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Whew. It came off pretty easy. Been there where you crank the hell out of the center bolt then whap the hell out of it with a big hammer.

    Head torque

Thanks all. I picked this bike up with the intent to flip for some profit. But a couple trips around the yard and the drive (1/4 mile) this little thing is a blast. Maybe where the name came from? LOL

    Head torque

My past experience with 2 strokes is they need new piston and rings quite frequently. From lurking here I see that is only the case if you don't do sh*t right. I wanna do sh*t right, LOL.

    Head torque

Will be using the torque wrench straight down so won't have to worry about conversion.

    Head torque

The correct torque is 20 ft lbs. My pretty decent quality torque wrench starts at 20 ft lbs. Think I am safe with that?

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Ok just did some checking and see that the correct puller pulls from the center :-(. I hope I didn't f**k it up.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Not sure how I could have damaged it. Pulled it evenly from the 2 bolt holes provided.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

I grew up taking u-joints apart and putting the needles in 1 at a time from other u-joints. Was pretty much make do with what you have. Now that I have lots more tools ect wonder how I used to get by. Still sit down and look and figure it out.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Had a puller that had 4 slots, 2 opposite and 2 at a angle. Not sure where it came from LOL. Just threaded 2 bolts into the flywheel, used the oil filter wrench to hold it and tightened the center bolt. Came right off :-)

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Anybody else use a large oil filter wrench to hold mag? I have many as have heavy equipment and dump trucks. Worked great and I suppose would be cheaper to buy than the Yamaha tool.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

It has a 380 main in it right now. No wonder he couldn't get the jetting right with a very leaky crank seal.

Can I use a vacuum pump instead of pressure to leak check?

Working on getting a tester from Awk and started monkeying with it today. Float was stuck or set too high and filled the crankcase with gas. Noticed gas dripping from the stator cover. Removed the cover and the stator and sure enough gas was running out around the crank seal as fast as I...
