YZF600 engine stuffed into a 90 blaster

Hey I have a 400ex shock that I ran on my bike. Although I drilled the shock to a 1/2" or 9/16 bolt. And the swinger too. But if you interested Ill sell it cheap for that reason. It's just sitting here.
 
Hey guys, life gets in the way so no new progress really. Haven't forgot about you! Though I have been thinking on how to fix the front motor mounts that I don't like and have come up with some ideas. Also going to have to make exhaust flanges for 3 of the header pipes so I can unbolt the header pipes below the a-arm tubes. This week is supposed to be nice weather so I hope to get out and work on them.

Also am getting a 400ex rear shock for the rear. Are banshee fronts really worth that much better than stock?


i run banshee front shocks on my blaster and noticed a difference. they are alot softer then the stock blaster shocks which is good for trail riding and they are longer so the front will sit up higher and match the added height of the 400ex rear shock but they are not rebuidable and only have one way to adjust. they are good if you get them cheap like i did but i wouldnt pay $100 for them like what alot are going for on ebay
 
Guys, I've sucked lately and have done little to nothing on the bike. I picked up a pipe kinker and fixed some dies to fit 7/8 and 1-1/8" tubing though and worked well. Going to take some aluminum sheet so I can use the 1-1/8 die to bend 1" tube for the rad guard. Previously I've been bending all my tubing by hand with a torch.

Also got the rear 400ex shock bolted in and the bike sits a lot better now. The old shock was way too long and had a ton of sag when sat on. Just need to get some bushings or make some up for the top mount. Might have also found a 2.5 gallon tank that will fit under the seat nicely which was a big concern for me before.

I was going to try and make the old airbox work but I just don't think it's going to happen so I'll use some UNI foam pod filters and rejet. I'll have to make some covers to keep mud and water out of them. This way I'll be able to use the OEM tank cover and just fiberglass to it to fit the new side tubes.

However, I've decided I'm going to retro a Morimoto h1 into the headlight with a demon eye and a halo in the shroud. Guessing no one's done this on a blaster before.

Forgot I had an old Audi A4 projector from a retro I did a few years ago on my car so I am using that instead with a shroud that came with the Morimoto's from it.

Step 1: Cut the headlight and know there is no going back! :)

About to go put them in the oven to remove the lens so I can paint the housings and know where to cut the shroud.

I've done a few retro's before but the one I did for my brothers CBR is my favourite.

Got the lens off easily. 11 mins at 250 and no preheat it came right apart.

Marked the shroud and kept cutting little bits til it fit how I needed.

Glued it in and painted everything.

Put some LEDs in. Tomorrow will have the demon eyes in and Im thinking of how to do a halo since I can't use a normal ring.

Will also need to polish up the headlight plastic too since its all scratched and scatters the led light.

Somehow lost 2 LEDs in the halo when I was putting in the projector lens but nothing I can do. Not my favourite color combo but used what I had.

I'm thinking maybe no halo looks better... I really don't like the yellow. Could always wire them to switch though.

Glued the lens back on and it's mostly done. Need to finish gluing the demon eye LED's in and seal up the rest of the projector.

Put the hood over it to give some perspective. If I had to do it over again I'd move the projector up higher in the headlight so it cuts off more of the top. Just makes it look a little better IMO. Hard to distinguish between the red and yellow in these pictures. The LEDs in the halo that are out are much more pronounced as well. I'll get some pics when it's sunny outside.

I just read through all of the posts it looks really good and must go like a rocket Goodluck man and safe riding..can't wait for the vids

You my friend are a very sick man! Tons of fabrication and hurdles but your getting it done. Mad props to you boss!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm looking forward to hearing this beast run. I'm thinking your not going to get the vibration that most of the guys do when they do engine swaps. I wish I time to play like this. Again, mad props Boss!!!!

Thanks, really means a lot. It should work well enough for what I'll use it for. Might take it to the strip at the track here next year, just to see.

Not much of an update but I quickly made some mounts for the rad. Need to make a lower mount for it. Would like to finish up the exhaust next and then engine mounts and frame bracing.
