YZ 250 Rebuild

Hey guys, been a while. Any ways, my buddy has an 87 yz 250 that needs a complete rebuild including a crank. Soo i was looking for a crank and cant find anything. I see wiseco makes a crank kit for the 99 and was wonderin if it would work in an 87. If any one here knows anything about these bikes, i would like some input. Thanx

If it's a 99 the only years the Parts are interchangeable are 96-01 I believe. It would definetpy be something that should be looked into tho.

I bet Ken OConnor can press a new rod on for ya. Don't think you'll find an aftermarket crank for an "87"

Well, there are no a/m cranks, so im gonna have it rebuilt at the local shop for 190 bucks. Ouch. Are cometic gaskets any good? cause oem gaskets for this bike are outragous.

^^^ OEM and Cometic are the 2 best you can get, anything else is junk!

Any one ever use Athena gaskets??? I can get a complete engine gasket and seal kit for about 60 bucks. Theres alot of no-brand gaskets on ebay also for cheap.

no go with cometic and oem your engine isnt a place youd want to cut coners with

ONLY get OEM or Cometic, any other kind of gasket is junk and doesn't do it's job. i agree with theblasterboy, your engine isn't a place to cut corners by any means.
