The 85-86 models of the LT250R QuadRacer blew cranks faster than any bike made at the time. Suzuki had the same problem with the early 90's RM125 and I believe RM250. The fact thats it's still apart makes me wonder if he ran into a problem.

i got a 1991 rm125, motor was completely built nothing stock to it and it had a hot rods crank. started it once after the rebuild to let it run to break in, blew the crank and locked up... needs a new bottom end now more or less.
