what does the tors do? how many turns should the big screw be out and what does it do.

The large knurled nut raises and lowers the carby slide to allow idle adjustment.

Idle adjusting.

Start with air screw 1.5 turns out.

Set idle screw so that it has some sort of idle. With TORS big screw under seat on top of unit. No TORS brass screw midway down carb body.

Warm up motor and then set idle screw for a faster idle, 2000rpm+

Adjust air screw either way to get the fastest idle.

Adjust air screw a little at a time leaving 10 secs to allow the motor to respond.

Re adjust idle screw for desired idle .

Am I missing something, I have never been able to find a volume control on any infernal combustion engine.:D:D:D8-|8-|8-|

However I do use go faster stripes when I drag.;););)

I got it to idle real low is that bad or good? it is running fine I just don't know how high the idle should be.

Without a rev counter, it is not too slow, but not too fast or get someone that can estimate the rev to help you.

You do not want it struggling to keep going, nor racing its head off.

Sheesh I am at a crossroads here, I adjust to what I feel is correct speed, it comes with age.
