The no lid difference

ok so I put on a new uni filter, left my airbox lid off and rejectted to a 250...I have always thought that these wheelers were kinda slow, I expected it. What I went from with one little mod was a slowish wheeler to pulling the tires in third. I literally almost flipped the thing over. Could I have really gained that much power from just pulling the lid off? Maybe I wasn't jetted correctly? I'm a little baffled....

I did. Got a good mocha color my first chop. Looks maybe a teensy bit rich but I prefer that. I just couldn't believe the difference....it's amazing

Consider the area of the snorkle
Lid without snorkle
Box without lid

Way more area (cfm)

More air in, more powwa out.

Plug chop or "read" to determine correct jetting.


Y'all don't forget to jet up for winter, 1 size (mikuni) for every 20* drop(change) from "perfect" summer jetting

my fmf pipe with lid/or no lid made no difference.
my toomey pipe..with lid...then no lid made a huggge difference

Never fitted a Toomey pipe but have worked on and ridden a few bikes with one.

Not my cup of Tea, I prefer a pipe where the power comes on early.

My comment was aimed at the FMF, where there was no change with or without the lid.

Hard to understand why the extra air made no difference to the performance, something must have been amiss!
