I have a 2002 blaster with a bad light coil...I was suckered into an aftermarket stator that never worked and put the oem back on. My question is...has anyone successfully removed one of the coils and replaced it. The cheap aftermarket light coil can't be worse than the broke oem light coil so a swap seems advantageous.

You get what you pay for with cheap aftermarket coils, they seldom deliver the goods.

Unless you need to draw more than 55watts, stick with a new or used OEM coil.

I had an ignition source coil go bad and replaced it with a new OEM coil. It's not hard to do if you're good at soldering. If I were you, I would just bite the bullet and buy a new OEM lighting coil and not have to worry about changing it again any time soon. Retail on the lighting coil is about $44.

Thanks Bluesman that's exactly what I needed to know. I can solder so I'll get a light coil coming.
