you won't know unless you mess with it... the point of the adjustments are so you can play with them until the suspension suits you best and does it's job without easily bottoming out or not being too stiff.
 
Ive never done it but i hav read upa little on it, there is a few adjustments, one for when u sit on it, it should only drop so much and i forget wwhat the other adjustment is

thats right, the big spring locking nut adjusts the preload, < the amount it sags when you sit on it

the other 2 settings...... compression and dampening
you should set both in the middle of their adjustment range
then tweak to suit your needs
 
when u say in the middle , u meen screw the screw in all the way and then go out as far as possable while counting how many times it turns, then set the screw in the middle
ie,. screwing in to out, say the screw turns 5 turns u would set it to 2 1/2 right,
roughly how many turns will it turn ?

any one know what they r set to from the factory ?
