REED VALVE CHANGE

I'm buying new reeds for my blaster, nothing fancy - I'm buying these one's I was told they are best for stock engines. But i am wondering about installing them, I was told you can put them in wrong? I just want some verification on how to

big section down, smaller piece on top just as they are in the package,
throw the little supplied metal strips away and used the stock curved reed stops, they'll last much longer.
and be sure to use blue loc-tite on the screws and don't overtighten them.
