The adapter that screws into the spark plug hole has to be about the same size as a spark plug. If u use an adapter too big thats far away from the schrader valve it will give u a low reading

drop a cap full of oil in spark plug hole
if the compression goes up,then there is your answer.
hold throttle wide open when you are kicking til it stops rising.

I held the throttle open while kicking it. But what is the oil supposed to do?

it will raise the compression..
if it is leaking past the rings
just a thought you dont need to do it lol

Thanks. I'll try that tonight. Have to start looking for parts. Can anyone point me in the direction that lists what you need for the leak down tester. I've searched and cant find it now.
