If a rear axle is 2+2 what does that mean?

If a rear axle is 2+2 what does that mean?

It means that the axle with the spacers on the outside is 2" wider than stock but it comes splined and with spacers that can be moved to make it 4" wider than stock.

It's an axle that uses spacers where you mount the hubs on the axles. With the spacers on, it's 2" wider. Without the spacers, it's the stock width.

You guys contradicted each other....one says it's minimum +2, max +4. The other says minimum is stock width, max +2.

I'm pretty sure sicivicdude is right.
