New setup help

I took a chance and bought a blaster this past weekend for the neighbor kid. After engine break down we noticed it had a .75mm piston (type??) Anyway, after putting it back together and correcting many other problems and performing leak test (passes) we are trying to set the carb up.

-FMF fatty
-FMF powercore II
- stock carb
-open air box, k&n filter

Any suggestions for a needle position and what size main jet? It didn't like the 290 and middle position that's for sure.

Try 280 with clip in middle and plug chop down or up from there

Float height correct, carb cleaned well? 290 and clip in middle "should" have been a decent start if anything. Can you be more specific on what you mean by saying it didn't like that jetting. Also what's your altitude?

it's been under 20 degrees all week here in PA, as the OP is.

I'd start with a 320 main and middle or 2nd up needle clip, and work down

airscsrew setting ? tuned for high idle per the diy in carb section ?

Now plug chop to confirm you have the jetting correct.
