Well after borrowing, wrenching, and fabricating on my friend's 98 blaster i think it is about time I get a quad of my own. I love the blaster but I have a few issues

1. I am 6'1" 225lb guy

2. 2 strokes seem a little more touchy than 4's

3. The rear brakes really suck

The blaster has plenty of power, I can pop wheelies all day but at high speeds that small frame feels unstable, the suspension is a little weak for my big butt, and I just want to go faster.

I am looking into either a banshee or kfx/ltr/dvx 400 or a predator 500.

What do you guys think and please be specific if you could.

I appreciate any input

first off, welcome to the best quad forum there is, period.....
im sure there's lots of guys your size and bigger who have blasters, and i've done a ton of riding girls around with me, (no none of 'em weighed 225lb) ha, and kept up with bigger quads trail ridin all day and night. but bottom line is, if you think you want more now then dont regret it later. but those other quads arent as cheaply modified
or repairable as our blasters, and some that'll make the biggest guys white knuckled
i personally prefer the simplicity of my blaster, no battery, starter, soleniod etc,etc to leave me stranded somewhere
the back brakes are fixable, read the "diy" on it here,
the 400ex and 450r rear shocks are cheap and easy upgrades to the rear suspension
flippin the front rims stabalize the front a good bit, and rear spacers to widen the rear are reasonable price
but to lengthen it is gonna set ya back a couple hundred
ya dont mention if your buddies is stock or not?
and damn, where ya gonna find a helmet that big?? just joshin ya
hope my 2 cents help with your decision

I don't want to cut the front plastics but my knees rub when I ride. Hopefully if I do get a bigger ride hopefully I won't have to do too much modding.

yeah, ur right. im only 5'8" 175lb, and my knees hit the front fenders too, but i,ve actually learned to use that in my riding style, leaning into one or the other on hard turns, and downhills, but now i do see your point,
so yeah a banshee, warrior,(yeah, im yamaha all the way), or one of the other makes may suit you better, plus have room for some coochie on the back with you, keep us updated with your decision

Id get a 400. They are alright out of the box and you can pick one up now for a reasonable price. They have gobs of torque and with a few minor mods can really rip and be reliable.

My next quad will be a 400 probably a kawasaki, or a 250r honda if the price is right.

oh I'm 6" 220 and purely ride my blaster for fun I:I The yellow 450 in my sig I sold to my younger brother cause its just 2 much quad for what I ride.

I love 2 strokes and its not killer fast, so I can pretty much throw it around anywhere. I have been modding it to take care of the unstableness at speed. Though.

if u ride alot of trails then the honda 400ex is a great quad...there r guys on here that give me a buncha trash for saying that but i dont give a crap...400ex is a great quad..have alot of mean bottom end and are a comfortable ride....ltz and kfx 400s are also great quads but im just a a fan of the 400ex...and the 400exs tend to be cheaper than the kfx and ltz 400s
